Abstract
ABSTRACT. Introduction. The research seeks to know the perception of the students of the International Relations major of UNITEC on the geopolitics of the Gulf of Fonseca in the case of Honduras and China. George Modelski's theory of the long cycles of global politics is used. This allows the situational analysis of this reality. Method. For the study, a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design and a descriptive scope was considered; thus, a sample of 188 students was taken into account by means of probabilistic sampling. A survey was applied (electronically) containing twenty items; of which, two are general data and eighteen are scalar. Results. A Cronbach's alpha reliability of 0.83 was obtained, which is very good for measuring the phenomenon under study. Additionally, goodness-of-fit statistics were calculated; and a KMO of 0.78 was obtained when applying an AFE. Regarding the descriptive results, it was observed that China's approach to the Gulf of Fonseca is part of a global strategy aimed at weakening US influence in the area. Conclusion. The study delves into the students' perception of the geopolitics of the Gulf of Fonseca.References
