Abstract

By integrating the use of mathematical models in the study of work-related injuries, objective improvement actions in the plans for prevention and control of occupational risk factors may be established. The research is applied in an oil refining company. The aim is to identify the model that best fit regression factors which affect the occurrence of accidents. The main result of this research is ti show that afer the review of different mathematical models to explain the accident rate, allows the identification of the negative binomial regression as the one that provides results with a smaller margin of error. As the main conclusion, this analysis allows to select variables with significant influence on labor accidents: psychosocial aspects, management commitment, ergonomic supplies, legislation, planning of preventive actions and a prevention program.
