Abstract
A woman walks along the banks of the Choluteca River in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, after Tropical Storm Iota—which, like Eta, battered the country in November 2020. Heavy rainfall caused several rivers to swell, including the Choluteca River, one of the country’s most important. Hundreds of Hondurans living along these rivers lost their homes and were relocated to shelters. The dire situation of extreme poverty is exacerbated by the COVID-19 health crisis and natural disasters.
