Abstract

The need to face new challenges, in addition to globalization, has caused companies around the world to become more competitive. In this context, an investigation was conducted in the micro, small and medium companies (MSMEs) in the field of hospitality in the city of San Pedro Sula. It is important to understand that competitiveness is a new problem in developing countries due to the different changes each country faces. These challenges are accentuated by the lack of knowledge of the competitive levels. The overall objective of this study was to determine the correlation between these variables - quality, distribution channel, price, services and technology –and competitiveness in the hospitality area. The results show that the levels of competitiveness are: quality 75%, price 75%, distribution channels 70%, price 79%, services, and technology 76%. The conclusion is that the level of competitiveness is regular. The area with the lowest percentages was the micro companies with levels from bad to regular.
