Abstract
The Second Congress of the Central American and Caribbean Network of Researchers on Religious Phenomena (RECIFRE), with the theme “Perspectives on religious diversity in the Central Caribbean region,” was held on July 30 and 31 and August 1, 2025, once again on the campus of the Central American Technological University (UNITEC) in Tegucigalpa, in partnership with the Virtual University, the Research Department, and the Working Group on “Religions and Society: Tensions, Diversity, and Mobilization in Debate” of the Latin American Council of Churches (LACC). (UNITEC) in Tegucigalpa, in partnership with the Virtual University, the Research Directorate, and the Working Group on “Religions and Society: Tensions, Diversity, and Mobilizations in Debate” of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO).
During this edition, participants reflected on the different perspectives on religious diversity in southern Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, emphasizing hegemony and counterbalances, society and politics, geography, spaces and territorialities, Afro-Caribbean ethnicities and spiritualities, as well as gender.
