Privacy Policy
The names and email addresses entered in this magazine will be used exclusively for the purposes set out therein and will not be provided to third parties or used for other purposes.
Anti-Plagiarism Policy
Originality and plagiarism
Articles submitted to LUMEN must be unpublished, the result of the authors' original work, and comply with established ethical standards. Works that have been previously published or simultaneously submitted to another journal will not be accepted.
The only exceptions are brief references in reports or other printed or digital documents, which must be cited or reported by the authors at the time of submission. The journal will use specialized software to check each manuscript that meets the criteria for peer review for plagiarism.
Plagiarism is an unacceptable practice and will result in the immediate rejection of an article. Plagiarism will be considered when an article intentionally presents the words, ideas, or concepts of another author as if they were its own without giving the corresponding credit to that author, either through a direct quotation or paraphrasing.
An article will be considered to contain false information when the author or authors present fictitious data or results, misleadingly attribute them to their own research procedures, or use information taken from other sources in a distorted
or manipulated way to obtain a desired result. Breaches of publication ethics, such as plagiarism, fabrication of data, fraud, duplication, and improper authorship, will not be accepted and will result in the rejection of the article, as well as other actions taken by the Editorial Team.
Authors must be subject to the Editorial Team requesting study data to review, verify, or validate results of articles in the process of publication or already published. Likewise, the Editorial Team will ensure that articles include a clear and well-defined methods section for study reproducibility. Along with their article, authors must submit the Originality Form.
Use of artificial intelligence
LUMEN adheres to the standards for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) set out by the https://www.unesco.org/es/articles/adopcion-del-primer-instrumento-normativo-mundial-sobre-la-etica-de-la-inteligencia-artificial and the Committee for Publication Ethics (https://publicationethics.org/cope-position-statements/ai-author).
Artificial intelligence (AI) cannot be considered the author of publications. Authors will take full responsibility for their writings and will be required to declare whether, in justified cases, they have used AI-assisted products or technologies, such as large language models, chatbots, or image generators.
Authors should consider that the use of artificial intelligence may generate incorrect or incomplete results and, consequently, should expressly declare that there is no plagiarism in their article or in the images produced using AI. They will also be required to give the appropriate credits where applicable. These aspects must be reported in the cover letter accompanying the manuscript and, if relevant, in the sections on methods, ethical considerations, or other relevant sections. The Editorial Team reserves the right to reject articles in which the use of artificial intelligence is deemed inappropriate.
File Preservation
The magazine's content is hosted on the magazine's website.
Publication ethics
Authors must review these guidelines before submitting their articles. Reviewers and editors will also ensure compliance with these guidelines. LUMEN adheres to international ethical principles in scientific publishing, available at:
- Committee for Publication Ethics (COPE https://publicationethics.org
- CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy https://www.elsevier.com/authors/journal-authors/policies-and-ethics/credit-author-statement

Authorship and contributions
Each author of an article must meet the following requirements: make substantial contributions to: (1) conception and design of the study, data collection, or data analysis; (2) writing or critical revision of the content; (3) final approval of the version of the article to be submitted to the journal; and (4) agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work to ensure its accuracy, integrity, and follow-up. Contributors who do not meet these requirements may be mentioned in the acknowledgments section.
The authors' contributions section must be completed without exception, specifying each author's contribution according to the established parameters. Courtesy authorship or authorship that
does not meet the criteria outlined in the previous paragraph will not be accepted. Individual contributions can be made following the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) criteria, which can be found at: https://www.elsevier.com/authors/journal-authors/policies-and-ethics/credit-author-statement.
The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that the authors included meet the criteria for authorship and, when submitting the manuscript, acts on their behalf. Consequently, they must retain documentation proving that all authors were informed and approved the final version.
Intellectual property
In addition to ensuring compliance with the previously established authorship criteria, authors must be familiar with and respect copyright, intellectual property, and citation and reference protocols. convene the Editorial Committee to discuss specific cases.
Complaints or corrections for publication
If authors discover errors or situations that warrant corrections, they must immediately notify the Editor-in-Chief of LUMEN at lumen@unitec.edu for the respective errata, correction, or, in the latter case, retraction. In some cases, it may be appropriate to submit an article in the form of a Letter to the Editor. All complaints or appeals by authors will be handled confidentially and resolved as soon as possible.
Citations
Citations are a fundamental element for measuring the impact of authors and their publications; however, citation manipulation is unacceptable. Anomalous practices such as excessive self-citation in the author's own articles or disproportionate citation of articles published in the same journal should be avoided. To learn more about good practices in this area, we recommend consulting the section on citation examples in this document. (Insert hyperlink)
