Abstract
Our society faces challenges throughout the entire food system, particularly in the production sector. One of the challenges we face is constant population growth, which translates into greater global demand for food resources. Unequal distribution and limited access to food are triggering problems of hunger and malnutrition, which run counter to the pillars of food and nutrition security (FNS). These issues highlight the need for timely action. However, many initiatives require challenging traditional agricultural production methods. They require venturing into new horizons and technologies without compromising available resources or expanding the agricultural frontier. Therefore, the assessment of FNS needs for the development of interventions must evaluate the specific risks of the location where the response is being implemented.
